Hi there! My name is Kourtni and the doggy is Emmett. I’m a queer and disabled 30-something-year-old living in the northeast US with my blue heeler, Emmett (pictured left) and my boyfriend.
I created Emko Misc. because after reconnecting to my creativity and seeing how much I benefited, I wanted to inspire other people to rediscover their own creativity so they can reap those same rewards.
My Story
A little about me: over the past few years, I’ve become really passionate about helping others find their creativity. You see, for a long time I pushed my creativity aside for more practical and productive pursuits. If only I’d realized I was also pushing aside my mental health in doing that. Once I began to prioritize creativity again, I saw my mental health improve drastically and I began to feel so much more fulfilled. After some time and many “I wish I were as creative as you are” comments, I realized I wanted to help guide other people on this same journey.
This blog is where I post guides, advice, and even some tutorials, all designed to help you find the best ways to fit more creativity into your daily life – without the second guessing on whether you should really be “wasting” time with creative hobbies. Crochet is my personal go-to creative activity, so you’ll see a lot of crochet content here too.
